We drove down to Manhattan Kansas to be with Mrs. Olsen when she celebrated her 90th birthday. She still tells a wonderful story. It was very special to share this time with her family.
I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Though addressing the heart of the "sabbath" concept in the Old Testament economy, this quote from the Evangelical Dictionary of Biblical Theology, speaks well to the deeper nature of "sabbatical."

A Sabbatical is not an extra vacation, but preparation for the next phase of ministry. Visiting other congregations, spending time in spiritual retreat in silence and in prayer, and stepping back from the constant demands of ministry will deepen and broaden the pastor’s ministry, directly benefiting the congregation for the long-term.
